Applied Mental Conditioning - Internship for Graduate Students
The IMG Academies in Bradenton, Florida, in conjunction with the Mental Conditioning Division, would like to offer internships for Graduate students in Applied Sport Psychology. We hold internships in the summer (mid-June to mid-August), fall (September – December), and spring (January – May). We anticipate approximately 1-4 positions available for qualified students.

BASIC DESCRIPTION
The IMG Academies Mental Conditioning Division provides performance enhancement consulting for the world-renowned Bollettieri Tennis Academy, David Leadbetter Golf Academy, IMG Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, Lacrosse and Madden Football Academies and the IMG Performance Institute (www.imgacademies.com/img-performance-institute). This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands on experience, particularly in the following areas:

  • Conducting group seminars on Mental Conditioning topics (e.g. goal setting, relaxation, etc.)
  • Developing group and individual Mental Conditioning programs
  • Working with individual athletes from a variety of ages and levels
  • Integrate work alongside other IMG Performance Institute divisions:
  • Physical conditioning
  • Sports medicine & athletic training
  • Vision training
  • Nutrition
  • Communication
  • Life skills
  • College placement
  • Supervised consultation with individual athletes (3 CC-AASP on staff)
  • Video-Analysis
  • Educating coaches on a variety of mental conditioning topics
  • Data collection and analysis with the Combine360 measurement system (www.combine360.com)

  • A DVD showing interaction with athletes (i.e. conducting a group lecture, consulting an individual client, or coaching)

DEADLINE
The deadline to submit application materials is March 11th for Summer. In addition, applications are also accepted for July 1st for Fall 2011, and November 1st for Spring 2012.

You will be working with a 9 full time mental coaches, including three AASP Certified Consultants, thus can work closely with supervisors to apply hours toward supervised experience for AASP certification.

There are both housing and non-housing positions. Housing includes 3 meals/day. Non-housing includes lunch. Students will be responsible for all other expenses. Students must receive college credit (at least one credit up to as much as their university allows) to be eligible. Each student will work approximately 45-55 hours per week with some weekend work.
